Writing and keeping faith
Mar. 27th, 2006 10:04 pmYesterday proved to be pretty busy. As part of the whole 40 DAYS campaign, there was a ministry fair last week to inform people of places they could serve and be involved in at the church, which ties into this week's theme. Up until that morning, I was not sure if the writing ministry would be included... I got a yes from one source and a no from another. So I was very touched when the list of opportunities got handed out at the end of service and sure enough I was on it. They won't call the ministry by the official name I use when corresponding with other churches, which is CREATIVE WORDS TO SPREAD THE WORD, but they referred to it as Writer's Workshop and accurately described both the ministry and its mission so I can't complain.
I also had another meeting of the Poetry group yesterday, the last for one of our members before she goes back to Scotland for a couple of months. We discussed free verse and incorporated the reading of more selections, I think that really struck a chord with my regulars who attended the event in February and we'll probably continue doing it.
Next on my plate is the Spiritual Journaling Workshop for April right after Easter, dovetailing out of the end of the 40 DAYS campaign. It has an accompanying journal and some people used that to journal for the first time, what I'm doing is just a short seminar about going deeper and other ways to approach it versus the structured atmosphere of the Warren journal.
In the meantime, I am working on the first two chapters of the animation book which need to go to the editor this week, but I'm trying to see if I can get one more email interview from someone first. It's OK as is, but I think I could do more with the first chapter if I get this piece.
Finally broke down and coverted my AT&T Wireless plan to Cingular. The cost of my service will hardly change, but I had to get another piece of equipment. Hestitantly I got a refurbished Blackberry, but at least it has a 90 day warranty. I have to have something with that level of capability after seeing how email was the primary mode of communication for my family even in recent crisis (Mom's gallbladder surgery), but affording a new one is totally out of the question. At least the refurbished ones have a 90 day warranty. Hopefully I can afford a top of the line model later even if it is full cost, but right now I just want the one I'm getting to hold out as long as possible.
Work at the music company continues, I do try to seek other work but nothing has come yet. Must keep faith!
