Bad bank morning...
Dec. 9th, 2006 10:41 amThursday night my mucus problems started resurfacing, I've had trouble sleeping since as well which is only compounding things. Right now I am very tired.
However, as much as I want to rest, the fact remains I was out of quarters for laundry so I had to walk the few blocks to the bank.
To have one of the worst experiences I think I've ever had there.
I went two blocks to the bank for quarters to do my laundry sometime today. I get in line and that's all I ask for. The teller asks if I have an account (they always do). I just respond I've had one for ten years (true, and with this same branch even). Normally things proceed without further questions. She tells me it'll be a moment as she needs to restock quarters, I say that will be fine.
Then she totally floors me.
She proceeds to ASK MY NAME. Which they never do. Presumes I'm a Mrs., I correct her with a very terse Ms. She's STANDING THERE WAITING FOR MY NAME. I respond by pulling out my debit card to say to her quite clearly, look I have an account, get on with it! She sees it and noticing it's branded asks if I have considered upgrading my credit card. At which she gets a very terse it's the DEBIT card (meaning she doesn't recognize product, even when the thing clearly says Debit on it!) and I'm really not interested in being sold anything today and if I could please please have my roll of quarters I would be quite satisfied. Delay me to go get quarters fine; delay me for a sales pitch, not fine!
At which point I got what I wanted and I could come back home.
I do not want to contemplate my attitude if she'd kept pushing after I said no; at that point I'd probably had to have called for a manager and that's just embarrasing to everyone. She probably needs that job as much as a lot of us do. I'm trying to tell myself that maybe she was new. But I hope someone noticed and gives her a few tips if that's the case.
Now to rest and probably, eventually, do my laundry.
