No rest, no rest I tell you!
Jun. 24th, 2006 12:34 pmI cannot WAIT until next weekend. I've booked myself in a place at the Embassy Suites from Sunday to Tuesday in Fullerton just to escape this place for the most part (though one night I actually have to take a charter bus to Los Angeles and back for the Hollywood Bowl concert, go figure!).
But between work (for which we have a huge project next week) and everything else I'm cramming into this weekend, it's hard to come up for a breath of air.
Still trying like crazy to finish Chapters 7 and 8 by Friday to stay on top of everything and keep on my deadlines. My attempt to get permission for artwork from existing companies didn't go as I'd hoped and I don't have time to try further and meet my deadlines. So for now Kevin is stepping up to the plate letting me license some of his stuff and I'm going to hope it works for what I need to show in this book. If they don't like it, we can iron that out in the next draft. But Kevin still has to finalize some of it and we've only got the next few days, and he has his monthly art group today which further eats into our time.
Tomorrow I have two writing classes to teach - prose and poetry. Though as of right now I am not confident anyone will show up for poetry, which is the second of the two. I have not heard from my main person who was out of town for several months though she was supposed to be back last week I haven't seen her, another has had medical issues, and the third up and disappeared. Still need to plan a lesson.
Also, I agreed to lead the Womens Literature Group at church in July since the leader will be on a cruise, so I had to get those questions out by email today, which I just did before checking in here. Our book is Anne Lamott's TRAVELING MERCIES: Some Thoughts on Faith. She's also written inspirational books for writers.
In between all this, I've been trying to do my laundry. They raised washer costs by a quarter again (a dollar now, our second increase in the nearly 10 years I've been in this apartment, but it's increased twice in the last two years). However, they did something wrong and apparently failed to turn one washer on after resetting it, because it took the money and did not start. Which meant running back upstairs to get another four quarters (spilling a whole bunch more in the process, aargh!) and using the other washer. I've left a note on it for the other tenants as the manager is not currently in.
On the plus side, we passed inspection and the plumbing crew has patched up most of the holes in my walls. There is one left and I am not sure if it was just missed or if they haven't gotten to it yet. When I catch up with the manager about the washer, I'll address this too.
Almost time to get the clothes from the dryer, grab lunch, then go back to writing the animation production book.
Sigh...
